As we continue our journey, let us walk in stride with God as He enlightens us through these words as to who He is and who we are in Him.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3 NIV.

It is purely by His will and the covenant between God and our Lord Jesus Christ that we live in His presence and are given eyes to see His glory. This was His sovereign plan before the creation of the world. He sets us free but He has not left us alone to fend for ourselves. He has shed His Light, which is the Holy Spirit, into our darkness to reveal the truth buried deep within us: that we are with Him, in Him, and for Him.

“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6 NIV; “and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” Ephesians 1:20-21 NIV.

Our spirits have been translated out of this material world and beyond our normal physical human experience and into His presence. Each day, as we abide in Him, we move closer to understanding and realizing our spiritual home. “But our citizenship is in heaven.” Philippians 3:20 NIV. Jesus prays to our Father, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.” John 17:16 NIV. And again, “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because You loved me before the creation of the world.” John 17:24 NIV. Take a moment to ponder how this home sheds light on our identity. In Him, I live. In Him, I Am…

But once again, He has not left us to find our own way. He has blessed us with His Holy Spirit. We are now a new spiritual man. We can now be led by His Spirit and rise above the influence of our physical existence. God builds us into Him little by little as we demonstrate that we can be stewards of what He gives us. He empowers us, but we must choose to follow. Paul prays for God to give us the “Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better”, “to know the hope to which He has called you”, and “His incomparable great power for us who believe.” Ephesians 1:17-19 NIV. These are our spiritual blessings. We are the body of Christ – we become like Him, measuring to the stature of His fullness, as we live under the direction of His Spirit and leave more and more of our natural man behind.

“And we all, with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV. As we evolve from ‘glory to glory’, the love of God is our witness.

As I was mediating on this verse, God placed Psalm 21 in front of me. I found it shed light on the spiritual blessings and the responsibility of those blessings.

The Aramaic interpretation rendering verse 1 as “The King Messiah”.

“How the King Messiah rejoices in Your strength, O LORD!
He shouts with joy because of Your victory.
For You have given him his heart’s desire;
You have held back nothing that he requested.

Selah

You welcomed him back with success and prosperity.
You placed a crown of finest gold on his head.
He asked You to preserve his life,
And You have granted his request.
The days of his life stretch on forever.
Your victory brings him great honor,
And You have clothed him with splendor and majesty.
You have endowed him with eternal blessings.
You have given him the joy of being in Your presence.
For the King Messiah trusts in the LORD.
The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling.

You capture all Your enemies.
Your strong right hand will seize all those who hate You.
You will destroy them as in a flaming furnace when You appear.
The LORD will consume them in His anger; fire will devour them.
You will wipe their children from the face of the earth;
They will never have descendants.
Although they plot against You, their evil schemes will never succeed.
For they will turn and run when they see Your arrows aimed at them.
We praise You, LORD, for all Your glorious power.
With music and singing we celebrate Your mighty acts.”
Psalm 21 NIV

Here are a few thoughts to ponder…

Verses 1-7 state what God has done for the Lord Jesus Christ. Think of the life of Jesus. God empowered Him by His Holy Spirit so that He brought glory to God – which was His heart’s desire. He overcame temptation, He healed, He enlightened the minds of the people, and He destroyed the power of sin and death. Once His earthly purpose was fulfilled, God welcomed Him back with success and prosperity – seating Him above all powers and authorities crowning Him King of all! He preserved His life eternal. God gave Jesus great honor and majesty and seated Him at His right hand – in His presence forever. It was the love of the Father that kept the Son from stumbling. It is that same love that makes our feet and future secure. He has blessed us with the same blessings.

Verses 1-13
God will find all those that are hostile to Him. His strong right hand; His grace and love manifested in Christ, through us, will capture all that separates His children from Him. They will be purified – all evil will be destroyed so that no more natural man will exist.

Natural man or the kingdom of darkness cannot outwit God. Every knee shall bow at the coming of the Lord Jesus – they will recognize their weakness – and in this weakness they will be humbled and purified to live in the presence of God all the days of their lives. These spiritual blessings reveal God’s glorious power to the world and to the heavens. By abiding in Jesus we learn how to use these blessings and bring glory to God.

As we approach the throne in humility – as children willing to leave all our masks, idols and egos at the foot of the cross – these spiritual blessings continue to lead us closer to the discovery of our true identities and release the purity deep within us. We live in heavenly realms.

Let our beginning and ending thoughts always be to the Praise of His Glory, bringing unity to all things on earth and in heaven.

And the journey continues…..
