As promised in the Power of Grace, we will explore God’s peace which flows from the fountain of His grace.
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgression – it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4 NIV. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 NIV.
These words contain our treasure chest of peace.
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14 NIV. His Kingdom has come and it is a Kingdom of Peace and it is here on earth!
“I will not leave you as orphans, but I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” John 14:18-20 NIV. “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” John 14:23 NIV. “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” John 14:26-27 NIV.
As I have been letting all these words of God and what truth they reveal sink deep into my bones a peace slowly consumes my soul, quiets my flesh, awakens my spirit, and opens my understanding. It is God’s peace that fills my heart with an inner rest – a huge sigh of relief. No need to strive, just an assurance that all is well – I can breathe again. This is what Jesus brought to earth.
I think about those times when a relationship is broken. How my soul is restless, wanting to have that relationship restored…made whole again. And when forgiveness and grace are purely offered and received, my soul rests.
A personal intimate relationship with the Almighty God holds this same treasure chest of peace…
We are secure in our home, united in the Godhead: lacking nothing in our spirits, souls and bodies.
Peace on earth. Good will to men.
Holy and blameless in His sight.
Living in the heavenly realms.
Blessed with all the spiritual blessings in Christ.
These words of God are permanent. Nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This is peace my friends.
From the fountain of grace flows the living streams of peace. The masks come off, the walls come down and we move closer to one another, finding unity and harmony of things once separated. This peace with one another and with God – which is one peace – becomes our great defense against the enemy. The enemy cannot penetrate the grace and peace of God.
“For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.” Ephesians 2:14 NIV. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit.” Ephesians 4:3-4 NIV.
Are you experiencing the peace that flows from God’s grace? As we offer grace to others, and even to ourselves, our whole being experiences peace. I can think of no other blessing I would rather share with someone.
God has provided a way for us to remember this peace that He gives us and it is through His words. He knows we will fret so He answers our weakness with these words:
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”
“And God’s peace (shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace) which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
“For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and loveable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things (fix your minds on them). Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.” Philippians 4:9 AMP.
These verses are my husband’s “go to” verses and they are quickly becoming mine. As the devil tries to steal my peace, I plant my feet in the Gospel of Peace and let these words become my sword.
I will not find lasting peace in the world around me. Living from my center where Christ resides and has an eternal grip on me is where I find it. Let God’s boundless love, grace and mercy wash over your body, soul and spirit leaving peace.
“And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through (separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God); and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 AMP.
Not only do we have reconciliation with God but through His great power that is working within us, He is bringing unity and harmony to our body, spirit and soul. He is bringing peace into our very own relationship with ourselves. The peace of God is making all things whole again so our true self can rise from the ashes and glorify our Lord and Father. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV.
This Psalm reminds me that God is and always will be with me guiding and protecting me day and night. May it bless your heart too.
“I will bless the LORD who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the LORD is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is filled with joy,
and my mouth shouts His praises!
My body rests in safety.
For You will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow Your godly one to rot in the grave.
You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of Your presence
and the pleasures of living with You forever.” Psalm 16:7-11 NLT.
